Is there a cat inside you?
I bought that postcard after photographing it. It’s inside a book it’s not with me now, so equally the copyright, as you can see it’s signed and the author is for sure at the back. I’ll update it when I get it back to my hands…
It’s a fantastic photograph made in a school, probably during some kind of exercise. Perhaps it was a photo exercise, it seems all pupils had a number (apparently all had the same). The point is, whatever it was, the photograph is very photographic.
because the kid is acting as if taking a photograph with his number fifteen.
This other photograph has actually something in common with the previous one… It is actually there, but it seems unreal due to the lack of focus and the street reflection. Also, its gaze is somehow nearly human, or very deep at least, the white van at the back makes it more visible.
What both have in common is of course the glance, one of a kid, one of a cat. But also, the fact the postcard is actually a frame inside the photo, the window is a frame too. But, furthermore, it seems to be something similar in both glances. Not easy to explain.
Having or not kids an inner being inside themselves, it actually seems to be so. Perhaps that’s the point of such similarity. A being processing but not expressing, thinking but not speaking.
The kid is concentrated in the “process” of taking a photograph, but it’s not actually looking at the outside world through the viewfinder.
